LUBBOCK, TX - Coach Todd Petty's Texas Tech women's tennis program has been named among the top recruiting classes for 2010.
The Tennis Recruiting Network placed Texas Tech's Class of 2010 in the No. 19 spot in their national rankings in their most recent Spring Recruiting Class Rankings. Lady Raider Kelsy Garland returns as the only senior on the 2010-2011 squad. Kelsy will be joined by four talented sophomores, Lorena Aviles, Sandra Dynka, Caroline Starck, and Elizabeth Ullathorne.
The Lady Raiders welcome three talented freshmen to the 2010-2011 squad. Samantha Adams of New Braunfels, Texas, and Haley Fournier from Leawood, Kansas, are both listed as 5-star players by the Tennis Recruiting Network. Nikki Sanders of Ontario, California, a 4-star player by the recruiting network, completes the incoming freshman class for Texas Tech.
Coach Petty stated, "This new national recruiting recognition is a credit to Todd Chapman's commitment with our recruiting. This is also a reflection of all the positive exposure the university has received across the country."
The 2010 recruiting class rankings are based on votes from a panel of junior tennis experts. Journalists, tournament directors, referees, and ranking chairmen from across the country have taken the time to vote on these recruiting classes.
