Griffin Wins Fourth Consecutive Amateur Championship

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech senior Will Griffin earned his way into the Greater San Antonio-area record books Sunday afternoon as he clinched his fourth-straight Greater San Antonio Men's Amateur Championship held at the Republic Golf Club in San Antonio, Texas.

However the fourth title was no breeze as the San Antonio native made a come-from-behind push with two birdies in the final three holes to bypass Matt Vela of St. Mary's University. Griffin finished the final round with a one-under 71, elevating him over Vela by two strokes for the win.

With the win, Griffin ties the tournament record for most consecutive tournament victories with former competitor, Alan Hill, who held the top spot from 2002-05.
