Red Raider Profile - Travis Hoffmeister
LUBBOCK, Texas - Although the Texas Tech baseball team has wrapped up its fall season, Texas Tech Athletics Communications will continue taking an inside look into the Tech program with Red Raider Profiles on each player.
Travis Hoffmeister (LHP - 6-3, 195 - L/L -Fr./HS - Burnet, Texas/Burnet)
Travis Hoffmeister graduated from Burnet High School in 2010, completing a four-year prep career that saw him win 21 games on the mound and also hit .374 at the plate.
Hoffmeister will have to wait until the 2012 season to make his Red Raider debut as he underwent Tommy John surgery on Tuesday, Nov. 23, which will sideline him for the upcoming spring season.
An all-district and team most valuable player selection during his senior season, Hoffmeister also played for the Austin Grand Slam during the summer season.
In his four-year career at Burnet High School, Hoffmeister went 21-8 with a 2.35 ERA with five saves with 195 strikeouts and 41 walks allowed in 40 total appearances.
"Travis just had surgery," head coach Dan Spencer said. "We feel really good about Travis now for the future. He is a big, tall left-hander who has had good stuff. He will be out for a year, but we feel good about him being a guy who can help us in the future."
Hoffmeister joins Andre Wheeler as the only freshmen left-handed pitchers listed on the Texas Tech roster. Wheeler is a two-way player who also plays in the outfield.
