Red Raider Profile - Trey Masek
LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech baseball team is heading toward the end of its fall season, and throughout the remainder of the semester Texas Tech Athletics Communications will take an inside look into the Tech program with Red Raider Profiles on each player.
Trey Masek (RHP/OF - 5-11, 175 - R/R -Fr./HS - Giddings, Texas/Giddings)
Trey Masek was named a high school All-American and also picked up all-state honors while at Giddings High School. He starred not only on the mound but also at the plate.
He was named all-district four times while batting .486 with seven home runs, 13 doubles and eight triples as a junior. On the mound, Masek was 13-2 with a 2.04 ERA with 131 strikeouts and allowed just 32 walks.
Masek also led Giddings HS to the state semifinals in football while guiding the baseball program to its first-ever state championship game appearance.
"Trey is going to have a big year for us," head coach Dan Spencer said. "We are still trying to figure out if we are going to use him at the end of the game or the start of the game. He is a very good competitor, good athlete and has a very good arm. It remains to be seen what we are going to do with him but we know he is going to be an impact guy."
Masek is one of 10 true freshmen listed on the Red Raiders fall roster.
