Black Team Wins Series with 7-5 Victory

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Black Team defeated the Red Team 7-5 in the fourth game of the Texas Tech Baseball Red & Black Series Wednesday at Dan Law Field to win the annual series. The two teams will conclude the Red & Black Series Thursday with first pitch scheduled for 5 p.m. at Dan Law Field.
- The game-four victory clinches the series for the Black Team, who won three consecutive games following a game-one defeat.
- Both teams combined for 17 walks/hit-by-pitch and nine base hits.
- The Red Team took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning on a two-run home run by Nick Hanslik. He connected on the ninth pitch of the at-bat with a full count.
- The Black Team scored a run in the third inning to cut the Red Team's lead to 2-1, and then scored three in the fourth and three runs in the fifth. Five consecutive walks for the Black Team led to the three-run fifth inning that provided the eventual winning runs.
- The lead-off batters (Kelby Tomlinson - Jamodrick McGruder) combined for five stolen bases on five attempts, scored four runs and reached base in every plate appearance (eight times total).
