LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech director of athletics Gerald Myers has accepted the immediate resignation of head volleyball coach Trish Knight.
Beth Falls, a fifth year assistant coach in the program, will take over the team on an interim basis beginning with Wednesday's home match against Texas A&M.
"I have accepted the immediate resignation of coach Knight," said Myers. "We appreciate her service to Texas Tech and her understanding that our volleyball program needs to be heading in a different direction. I have total confidence in Beth (Falls) and I think she will do a good job of keeping our team focused and have them ready to play starting with A&M on Wednesday. We will begin a national search for our new head coach immediately but will not announce a successor until the season is complete."
"I wanted to build a winner here at Texas Tech," commented Knight. "Everyone in the program is working toward that and I wish them nothing but the best."
Texas Tech is currently 3-17 overall and last in Big 12 Conference play with a 1-10 record. Knight ends her career at Texas Tech with a 5-44 overall record in just 1 ½ seasons as head coach.
