Caroline Starck Advances in Singles and Doubles at USTA/ITA

lubbock, tx - Lady Raider Caroline Starck won two singles matches on Sunday and joined with Nikki Sanders to win their doubles match to advance to quarterfinal play on Monday at the USTA/ITA regional in Waco, Texas.
The Lady Raiders won five singles matches on Sunday with Caroline Starck claiming two of those wins. Starck defeated Houston's Bryony Hunter, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, and got the win over teammate Haley Fournier when Haley withdrew due to injury, 4-3. Fournier had won earlier previous match over UNT's Barbora Vykydalova, 6-2, 6-2. Samantha Adams won her first match on Sunday over No. 15 seed Ana Guzman of Rice, 6-4, 7-5, and then lost in three sets to the No. 1 seed from Texas, Aeriel Ellis, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2. Lorena Aviles won her first set over UNT's No. 13 seed, Irina Paraschiv, 1-6, 6-3, 6-3, and then lost in the second match to No. 2 seed Marta Lesniak of SMU, 6-1, 3-6, 6-0. Sandra Dynka lost her match to No. 10 seed Edyta Cieplucha of SMU, 6-4, 6-4. Nikki Sanders dropped her opening match on Sunday to Baylor's No. 4 seed Sona Novakova, 7-5, 6-2.
In doubles play, Starck and Sanders toppled UNT's No. 4 seed pair 8-1 to advance to the quarterfinal round on Monday. Samantha Adams and Kelsy Garland also won their doubles match and advanced to the quarterfinal round on Monday with their 8-5 win over Houston's Hunter and Pozzan.
In consolation doubles, Lorena Aviles and Sandra Dynka advanced in the consolation bracket with their 8-3 win over Lamar's Mayagoitia and Porter. Haley Fournier and Lindsey Tristan also advanced in consolation play with their 8-1 win over Lamar's Czudek and Mendez.
The singles and doubles champions from the NCAA Division I USTA/ITA Regional Championships will advance to the 2010 USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, taking place November 4-7, at the new indoor facilities at the USTA-Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, located in Flushing, New York. Columbia University will serve as the tournament host.
