
Women's Tennis at USTA/ITA Regional

LUBBOCK, TX - The Texas Tech women's tennis team begins play on Friday morning for the USTA/ITA Texas Regional Championships from Oct. 22-26, with action taking place at both the Baylor Tennis Center and Waco Regional Tennis Center in Waco, Texas. Baylor is one of 12 regional sites.
The Lady Raiders have placed eight players in the singles draw, as well as four pairs in the doubles draw in the tournament. Senior Kelsy Garland, sophomores Lorena Aviles, Sandra Dynka, and Caroline Starck, and freshmen Samantha Adams, Haley Fournier, Nikki Sanders, and Lindsey Tristan will each enter in singles play on Friday morning. The second round of singles will then take place at 11:30 a.m.
Doubles action will begin on Saturday, Oct. 23, with the first round at 9 a.m. and the second round beginning at 11 a.m. Aviles and Dynka, Fournier and Tristan, and Adams and Garland begin doubles play at 9:00 a.m. with Sanders and Starck taking the courts at 10:15 a.m.
The singles and doubles champions from the NCAA Division I USTA/ITA Regional Championships will advance to the 2010 USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, taking place November 4-7, at the new indoor facilities at the USTA-Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, located in Flushing, New York. Columbia University will serve as the tournament host.
