Lady Raiders Advance Five to Finals

LUBBOCK, Texas - Play has been completed for Day 2 at the Lobo Invitational at the University of New Mexico campus in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with Texas Tech advancing five players to the finals on Sunday.
Freshman Elizabeth Ullathorne and sophomore Natalie Leitch advanced to the finals in Flight A while Kerryn Potgieter (Sr), Stephanie Peana (So), and Lorena Aviles (Fr) advanced to the finals in Flight B.
In Flight A on Sunday, Elizabeth Ullathorne will face Arizona's Sarah Landsman, ranked 106th nationally by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) with Natalie Leitch taking on Denver's Julia Bauregger.
Overall, the Lady Raiders won five of eight singles matches and also won two of their four doubles matches on the second day of competition. In singles, Elizabeth Ullathorne defeated Sophia Bergner (Denver), 6-0, 6-4. Natalie Leitch topped New Mexico's Manumea Durie, 6-0, 6-1. Lorena Aviles beat New Mexico's Kristin Eggleston, 6-2, 6-4. Kerryn Potgieter defeated Eliane Bourdages (UNM), 6-0, 6-0. Stefanie Peana defeated Michaela Oldani (UNM), 6-0, 6-0. In doubles action, Kelsy Garland and Elizabeth Ullathorne defeated Anya Villanueva-Forte and Amy Shipperd of New Mexico, 8-3. Kerryn Potgieter and Caroline Starck defeated Sophia Bergner and Christin Thompson of the University of Denver, 8-6.
Players return to the courts on Sunday morning for doubles play beginning at 9:30 AM Mountain Time. Singles play will begin following the completion of all the doubles matches.
