Pfister Wins Consolation Singles at Midland Invitational

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Midland Racquet Club Invitational wrapped up play today and Texas Tech freshman Raphael Pfister claimed the singles title of the consolation bracket.
In his semifinal match, Pfister beat Vasko Mladenov (Texas), 7-6 (3), 3-6, 10-7 (super tiebreaker). The win marked the second-straight victory over a player from Texas, as he defeated Chris Camilone in the quarterfinals yesterday.
Pfister then won by default in the finals over Finn Tierney (Pepperdine). Pfister was down, 2-5, before Tierney defaulted to end the match.
Next up for the Red Raiders is the HEB Baylor Intercollegiate Invitational Sept. 25-27. Three players - sophomores Gonzalo Escobar and Rafael Garcia, and freshman Andre Stabile will represent Tech in Waco, Texas.
