Men's Tennis Topples Abilene Christian, 7-0

LUBBOCK, Texas - After defeating McMurry earlier in the day, the Texas Tech men's tennis team completed its Saturday two-match set with a 7-0 victory over Abilene Christian at the McLeod Tennis Center.
Similar to its previous outing against McMurry, the Red Raiders (5-1) dominated every set in singles, losing only seven games again, while three players (Gonzalo Escobar, Rafael Garcia, and Raphael Pfister) claimed straight-set victories without losing a single game.
None of Tech's three remaining singles matches were close, either, as 25th-ranked Raony Carvalho took a 6-1, 6-1 decision in the top spot, while Andre Stabile won 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 4 position. Vitor Manzini topped former Red Raider Jared Hope 6-2, 6-0 in the fifth slot.
With the match already decided, Stabile and Escobar opened the doubles portion strong, earning an 8-3 victory in the No. 2 slot. ACU came close to upending the Red Raiders in the third position with Hope and Karl Bein, but Manzini and David Pace survived an 8-6 victory to give Tech the doubles point. Tech's only lost of the day came at the top spot as the 19th-ranked tandem of Carvalho and Garcia fell to Luke Hawk and John Strahl, 9-8.
The Red Raiders return to the road next weekend with matches at TCU (Feb. 19) and a neutral-site contest against Wisconsin (Feb. 20) in College Station, Texas.
