Roberts Does Not Advance at IAAF World Championships

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech's Gil Roberts placed fifth in his heat in the 400M at the IAAF World Championships in Berlin, Germany, but failed to advance to the semi-finals.
Roberts, competing in his first international event, ran a time of 46.41 placing fifth. It was his first race since the 2009 U.S. National Championships. Fellow Americans LaShawn Merrit, Jeremy Wariner and Lionel Larry all advanced to the semi-finals of the 400M.
The two-time Big 12 Champion is still eligible to be a member of the 4x400M relay that will run its first round on Sat., August 22.
