
Ward Among Top 20 at Texas State Open

LUBBOCK, Texas - A pair of Red Raider golfers, one present and one past, are tied in 14th place after three rounds at the 39th Chesapeake Energy Texas State Open. Tech senior Chris Ward (McKinney, Texas) and former Tech All-American Andrew Dresser each hold a pair of 205s (-5) and are seven shots off of the lead.
Ward carded a third-round 68 after rounds of 67 and 70 the previous two days at the event, held at The Cascades in Tyler, Texas. Ward is the overall amateur leader by two strokes. Dresser, a professional on the Adams Tight Lies Tour, followed rounds of 65 and 67 with a 73 Saturday.
Randy Lowry of Spring, Texas, and Matthew Rosenfeld of Plano, Texas, are tied atop the leaderboard at 12-under. Former Red Raiders Brad Ott and Shaun Melville also competed in the event, but missed the cut Friday.
