Roberts Makes US National Team in 400M

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech sophomore Gil Roberts placed second in the men's 400M at the USA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., earning a spot on the US National team for the IAAF World Championships in Berlin, Germany.
The three-time All-American ran the second-fastest time of his career with a 44.93 placing second overall. He beat the likes of Olympians Kerron Clement, Darold Williamson and David Neville.
He is the first Red Raider to make the US National team since Jonathan Johnson in 2004. Roberts will run the 400M and be a member of the 4x400M relay pool for the United States. The IAAF World Championships in Berlin, Germany, will be held from August 15-23.
Junior Omo Osaghae ran a 14.02 in the semi-finals of the 110M hurdles placing eighth in his heat. The two-time All-American was unable to advance to finals.
