
TECH HOSTS FINAL TUNE-UP BEFORE BIG 12 CHAMPIONSHIPS

LUBBOCK, Texas - The No. 18 Red Raiders and No. 25 Lady Raiders are preparing for the Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships next weekend by hosting its final tune-up meet at the Linda & Terry Fuller Track on Thurs., May 7.
Tech was off last week to take care of finals and finish up the semester in the classroom, but now can focus on getting ready for the Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted in Lubbock next weekend.
Omo Osaghae (110M hurdles), Gil Roberts (400M) and Darrell Roddick (triple jump) are in the top 10 in their respective events in the country, while D'Andra Carter (discus), Patience Knight (shot put) and Ozie Okolie (hammer) also are in the top 10 as well.
This meet will be relatively small with Hardin-Simmons, Lubbock Christian, McMurry, Southwest (N.M.), South Plains, Sul Ross St. and Wayland Baptist competing in the meet. The meet will begin with the hammer throw at 3 p.m., and running will follow at 6 p.m.
