- Texas A&M now leads the all-time series against the Red Raiders 88-55. The two teams are 3-3 against each other when facing off in the Big 12 Championship.
- Texas Tech needed a win over the Aggies to advance to Sunday's championship game as the Red Raiders got some much needed help by both Texas A&M and Missouri. The Aggies and Tigers both handed Oklahoma losses in the tournament which put the Red Raiders in position to play for a championship berth in tonight's game.
- Tonight's game got underway at 9:15 p.m. (7:30 p.m. was the original start time) due to heavy rains that moved through Oklahoma City. The 9:15 p.m. (CT) start was the latest for the Red Raiders since the 2005 season when Tech faced Nebraska in the first round of the Big 12 Championship. That game got underway at 9:19 p.m. (CT).
- Texas Tech said farewell to seven seniors this evening: Willie Rueda, Lorenzo Douglas, Chris Richburg, Brian Cloud, Cory Large, Miles Morgan and AJ Ramos.
- Texas Tech is now 13-20 all-time in the Big 12 Championship.
- Garrett Totten smashed the first triple of his career as he finished the day 2-for-4 at the plate while scoring two of Tech's four runs.
- Jeremy Mayo drove in two runs and finished the night 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Tech offense in the loss to Texas A&M.
