LUBBOCK, Texas - Of the seven Big 12 teams selected to compete in the postseason, only Baylor and Missouri survived the weekend's regionals competitions held at various campuses throughout the country with all eyes on the final prize, the 2009 Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Host Baylor outlasted No. 12 Northwestern, UL-Lafayette and Texas State to advance, while Missouri hosted No. 15 DePaul, Bradley and Illinois. Texas Tech split a doubleheader with Texas State during the 2009 campaign and lost to Illinois during one of its Florida excursions.
Baylor will head to Ann Arbor to face No. 5 Michigan for the best-of-three series, while Missouri will go to Los Angeles to face No. 2 UCLA in the same series set up. Winners from the eight Super Regions then head to Oklahoma City for the WCWS.
Fans can follow the sport via the NCAA's Web site (www.ncaa.com) where links to an interactive bracket posts game times for the upcoming Super Regionals' television schedules.
