
Tech Starts Big 12 Championships on Thursday

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Lady Raiders begin the Big 12 Women's Tennis Championships on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. against Oklahoma, but before the tournament starts, Tech will makeup a match with Nebraska tomorrow at 10 a.m.
The Lady Raider will try to halt a two-match losing streak before starting tournament play. The Nebraska match was scheduled to be played earlier in the season, but due to high winds was postponed.
Tech begins Big 12 tournament play against Oklahoma. The Lady Raiders fell to Oklahoma this past Sunday 6-1 and will be looking to change the outcome this time around. Oklahoma is 9-13 on the year and 3-8 in conference play. The Lady Raiders have never advanced past the quarterfinals of the Big 12 tournament.
Freshman Natalie Leitch is currently on a four match winning streak. Leitch has been on a roll going 8-2 in her last 10 matches. No. 2 player Kelsy Garland has a 13-8 record on the season and is 5-5 in the Big 12.
Garland and Samantha van der Drift has been the lead doubles squad as they are 12-8 on the season and 5-4 in conference play. The no. 3 duo of Leitch and Simone Templeton are on a three match wining streak. The pair has a 10-5 record on the season and is 6-3 in conference play.
The Lady Raiders will face Nebraska at 10 a.m. tomorrow morning at the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman, Okla., and than start the Big 12 tournament on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Fans will be able to follow the Big 12 Championships live results at www.texastech.com.
