
No. 22 Baylor Holds Off Tech

WACO, Texas - Despite an 11-kill, two block, .391 hitting efficiency performance by Amanda Dowdy and a 13-dig night for Jenn Goehry, Texas Tech couldn't ride momentum in set three when it had a 23-22 lead to overtake No. 22 Baylor in volleyball action in Waco. Baylor improves to 19-5, 8-5; while Tech falls to 2-18, 0-12. Set scores were: 25-17, 25-20 and 25-23.
Four Bears tallies double-digit kills led by Katie Sanders' 12 blasts. Taylor Barnes directed the offense and collected 41 assists, but it was her serving that was most impressive. She had six service aces to keep the Red Raiders off balance and to help put the upstart visitors away in the third set.
Miara Cave had six kills and three blocks and Caroline Witte and setter Karlyn Meyers each added five kills to Tech's offense. Meyers also added three blocks to the net game. Barbara Conceicao was again effective at the net as the junior put back four Bear's attempts for points to Tech.
Texas Tech has the mid-week bye week this Wednesday, and will prepare to host Colorado on Saturday, Nov. 7 for a 4 p.m. match at the United Spirit Arena as its next contest.
(Please note the adjusted time for the match with Colorado as the team will also next week travel to Manhattan, Kansas for a Sunday, Nov. 8 date at 6 p.m. to make up postponed match with Wildcats.)
