Day 2 "Ace for a Cure" Results

LUBBOCK, Texas - Ecuador's Lorena Aviles and South Africa's Kerryn Potgieter each gained a singles win and then joined with their doubles partners for another win each on the second day of the "Ace for a Cure" in Columbia, Missouri.
Lorena was the singles consolation winner for flight 2 with her defeat of Drake's Jessica Aguilera in three sets, 6-3, 5-7, and 6-4. The duo of Mia Matuszak and Lorena Aviles also stopped Drake's Jessica Aguilera and Amanda Aragon, 8-2, to win the flight 3 doubles consolation spot.
Kerryn defeated Amanda Aragon (DU) 6-7 (5), 6-1, 6-0, and will advance to play Missouri's Andrea Lewis on Sunday for the top consolation spot in flight 3. Lewis advanced to play on Sunday with her win over Tech's Mia Matuszak, 0-6, 6-2, 6-2.
Caroline Starck and Kerryn Potgieter were the flight 2 consolation winners with their 8-5 win over Drake's Ali Patterson and Jessica Labarte.
Caroline Starck and Natalie Leitch each lost their singles matches and will face each other tomorrow for the third place spot in flight 1. Missouri's Mallory Weber defeated Caroline 6-2, 7-5, while Missouri's Jamie Mera topped Natalie in three sets, 6-7, 6-2, 6-2.
Sarah Miller (Louisville) defeated Stefanie Peana 7-5, 6-3 to advance to the flight final against teammate, Mandy Brown.
Singles matches at the University of Missouri begin tomorrow at 10 AM.
In California, Kelsy Garland lost her singles match, 6-1, 6-2. Kelsy and Elizabeth Ullathorne dropped their doubles match 8-6.
