LUBBOCK, Texas - The 2009 ITA Texas Regional Championships came to an end today as Texas Tech men's tennis team lost in both the singles and doubles finals at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station.
In the championship match in singles, Tech's No. 25 Raony Carvalho fell to Texas' No. 46 Ed Corrie in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1.
Later in the day, No. 28 Carvalho and Garcia lost to Jeff Dadamo and Austin Krajicek (Texas A&M), 3-6, 7-6 (8), 7-6 (5), in the finals of the doubles draw.
"It was a great tournament for both Ray and Rafael, " said head coach Tim Siegel. "Ray just ran into a stronger player today. It was an excellent tournament for Ray especially since we didn't know if he would play because of the flu. It was a real tough loss for Ray and Rafael after having a match point in the second set tiebreaker. I am real proud of how they did in their first tournament together."
This concludes the fall schedule for the Red Raiders. They will begin dual action in January.
