
Kipyego Named USTFCCCA's Women Track Athlete of the Year

LUBBOCK, Texas - Accolades have started to roll in for Texas Tech as the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has named seven-time NCAA champion Sally Kipyego its Women Track Athlete of the Year.
Kipyego won her seventh NCAA title this last weekend at the NCAA Outdoor Championships as she ran a NCAA meet and stadium record of 15:15.06 in the 5,000M. The very next day she earned All-American honors for placing second with a school record of 4:06.67 in the 1500M. Kipyego also set the NCAA record in the 10,000M with a time of 31:25.45 in May.
She won both titles in the 5,000M and 1500M at the Midwest Regioanl and was also named USTFCCCA's Mountain Region Female Athlete of the Year.
