
Red Raiders Focused on Big 12 Championships

BOULDER, Colo. - The Texas Tech track and field team are focused and ready to compete at the Big 12 Championships being held in Boulder, Colo. from May 16-18.
The Big 12 Championships start on Friday with the decathlon and heptathlon at 10 a.m. The first Red Raider competing will be Ozie Oklie in the women's hammer throw. Saturday starts the prelims of all the running events and the men's and women's shot put, long jump, women's high jump and women's pole vault.
Senior Shawon Harris has the fastest time in the 100M hurdles with a wind-aided 13.52. D'Andra Carter and Patience Knight have the leading throws coming into the conference meet in the discus and shot put with throws of 189'-05' and 57'-11" respectively. Irene Kimaiyo and Sally Kipeygo also lead in the 3K steeplechase, the 5,000M and 10,000M. Kipyego is the only returning defending Big 12 Champion for the Red Raiders. She won the 1500M and 5000M at last year's conference championships.
