
Texas Tech Recruits Shine at State Championships

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech's future track and field stars were on display this last weekend at the Texas and Arizona state track meets. New signee Brandon Tucker (Lewisville, Texas) won the 5A 110M hurdles and 300M hurdles.
Tucker, a senior at Lewisville High School, ran personal-best times of 13.44 in the 110M hurdles and 36.38 in the 300M hurdles. He also ran the second leg of the 4x100M relay with fellow signee Markus Henderson (Lewisville High School), which finished in second place.
Four other future Red Raiders competed over the weekend as well. Zach Dawson (Big Spring, Texas) won the 4A 1600M with a time of 4:10.23. Henderson anchored the Lewisville 4x100M to a second place finish and won the 5A 200M with a time of 20.80. Jamele Mason (Spring Westfield High School) was second to Tucker n the 5A 300M hurdles with a time of 36.79. Sage Lasater (Stephenville High School) was runner-up in the 4A pole vault clearing 12'-00". Terra Evans (Phoenix, Arizona) won the 5A I Arizona state titles in the 100M (11.77) and the 200M (24.29).
"What a tremendous state meet for our recruits," said Wes Kittley, head track coach. "It is phenomenal how many individuals won state championships. This could be the finest recruiting class we have had at Tech yet."
Overall Tech's fall class finished with six state championships.
