Red Raiders Fall on Senior Night

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech volleyball team fell in straight sets to No. 13 Kansas State (25-18, 25-18, 25-20) on senior night as senior Amanda Sbragia and freshman Amanda Dowdy led the team with eight kills.
Senior Michelle Flores led the Tech (5-26, 0-20) with three kills in the first set. The Red Raiders tied the set at 9-9 on a kill by senior Brandi Hood. Kansas State (24-7, 14-6) went on a four point run to and extended it in the set to win 25-18.
Tech struggles in the second set only hitting a .111 percentage and was down 18-9. The Red Raiders cut the lead to 7 with a kill by libero Jenn Harrell but the Wildcats won the set 25-18.
The final set was tightly contested. Tech took an early lead at 5-4 on a kill by Dowdy but Kansas State battled back and to a 18-12 lead. The Red Raiders tried for one last rally as Hood's kill made the score 21-18 but Tech was unable to win as Kansas State won the final set 25-20.
Sophomore Becca Baldwin finished with seven kills and junior Harrell recorded 9 digs.
Rita Liliom led Kansas State with 15 kills.
The Red Raiders conclude the season and will return 12 players for the 2009 squad.
