ROSWELL, N.M. - New Mexico State's Joseph Scaperotta hit a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth that broke a 4-4 tie and the Aggies held on to defeat Texas Tech 5-4 on Tuesday evening in Roswell.
The Red Raiders fall to 27-25 on the season while New Mexico State improves to 22-31.
Chris Ortmeier suffered the loss for Texas Tech despite three solid innings of relief work and dropped to 0-2 on the year.
Texas Tech returns to action on Friday when the Red Raiders open up a three-game series at Oklahoma. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
