Lady Raider Tennis Travels to Manhattan

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis team returns to the road as they travel to Manhattan, Kan., to face Big 12 opponent the Kansas State Wildcats on Sat., April 7, at noon. Tech is looking to improve its 9-7, 2-4 record, coming off their first two conference wins last weekend against Missouri and Kansas in Lubbock.
Last time out the Raiders hosted a three match series against No. 33 Texas, Missouri and Kansas. On Thurs., March 29, the Longhorns tallied in their 32nd consecutive win over Tech, 5-2. After a day of practice, the Lady Raiders came out strong in the last two matches of the weekend. Tech topped the Lady Tigers, 6-1, and pulled away with the 5-2 win over KU.
Kansas State enters the match still looking for their first Big 12 win, holding a 0-4 conference record, 2-11 on the season. Tech sits 2-1 in matches against the Big 12 North, and boasts a 4-3 win last season over the Lady Wildcats in Lubbock.
KSU leads the series over the Lady Raiders 10-6, winning eight of their last 10 meetings, and is 4-1 against Tech at home. One of the more solid aspects KSU brings to the match is in their doubles play. Playing in the No. 1 doubles position for the Wildcats is Olga Klimova and Katerina Kudlackova. The duo sit 4-1 in Big 12 and will take on Tech's top pair of Samantha van der Drift and Janet Durham, who currently sit 10-4, 3-2 in conference play.
