LUBBOCK, Texas - Missouri will be the next opponent for Texas Tech when the Tigers invade the United Spirit Arena for a Saturday night clash. The Red Raiders are looking to even the score with Mizzou after dropping their first meeting of the season in Columbia, Mo.
Tech (7-18, 1-15) is coming off a tough 3-0 (30-23, 30-21 and 30-23) loss at the hands of No. 23 Oklahoma on the road Wednesday night. In a match filled with back-and-forth runs, it was the Red Raiders that fell victim to big Sooner runs late in each game. Seniors Amy Gandy and Alicia Ostmeyer led Tech on the evening. Gandy recorded a solid stat line of seven kills, seven digs and four blocks, while Ostmeyer knocked down team bests of nine kills and five blocks on .529 hitting. Jaclyn Spearman paced the Red Raider defense with 11 digs.
Missouri (14-10, 7-8), meanwhile, has been off for the last week, having edged Baylor in a tough 3-2 battle on its home court last time out. The Tigers are coached by Wayne Kreklow in his third full season at the helm of the program. Senior Na Yang leads the Mizzou charge with 4.45 kills per game, good for fifth in the Big 12. Fellow senior Tatum Ailes is first in the conference in digs at 4.89 digs per game.
First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. It will be canned food night at the USA Saturday. Fans can get in for just one dollar with the donation of any canned goods.
