LUBBOCK, Texas - Returning home after a successful weekend on the road, the Texas Tech women's tennis team had an impressive showing as they competed at the 2007 Air Force Academy Invitational in Colorado Springs, Colo. Leah Roberts and Kerryn Potgieter both advanced to the finals, before falling short to players from Denver and Colorado State, respectively. Flight eight consisted of a series of round-robin matches, were Kyla Coleman, Maria Jose Andres, Ingrid Ballus and Laura Ring all sank in three wins a piece.
Doubles play proved no different as Tech's top duo of Durham and Garland swept their flight defeating teams from Wyoming, Air Force and Colorado State, advancing their overall record to 10-1 in tournament play. Veterans Potgieter and van der Drift also breezed through their bracket defeating players from East Tennessee, Wyoming and Memphis.
The pair of Ballus and Roberts weren't as successful as they fell 8-6 in the second round to Wyoming's Chaix and Nelson. The two quickly recovered as they found a win over Air Force's Eromin and Wilson, 8-4. The fourth doubles flight was a six team round-robin, with Tech putting two teams in the mix.
