Younan-Wise Leads Tech With 11th-Place Finish

LUBBOCK, Texas - Sophomore Jake Younan-Wise led the Texas Tech men's golf squad for the second time this season as he finished in a tie for 11th. Younan-Wise shot a 2-under on the day to finish with rounds of 67-75-70--212 (-4) at the Carpet Capital Collegiate Classic.
Despite shooting their best round of the tournament, the Red Raider team remained in 16th after the concluding round. The team turned in scores of 297-294-293--884. Alabama took the top spot from Clemson, to finish with a 23-under 841. The Tigers finished six shots behind the Crimson Tide to take second place with rounds of 278-280-289--847.
Oscar Floren continued to improve with each round, as he fired the lowest round on the day with a 5-under 67. The late push to finish in the top-20 came too late as Floren finished tied for 32nd. Santiago Rivas finished with rounds of 74-73-77--224 to tied for 61st. Will Griffin shot a three-round 231, while Jeremy Martin hit a 242.
Georgia's Chris Kirk came from behind to capture the individual title. Kirk carded rounds of 68-70-67--205 to finish one shot ahead of Darren Blair of NC State.
The Red Raiders will next travel to Albuquerque, N.M., to take part in the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate. For continuing results of the Red Raider squad, please check with www.texastech.com throughout the season.
