LUBBOCK, Texas - Former Red Raiders Dana Rosenbladt and Sage Thames and senior Shawon Harris were all named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team as announced by the association this week.
Rosenbladt competed four years in the pole vault on the Red Raider squad. She became an all-region honoree during the 2004 outdoor season with a career-best clearance of 13'-1.75", placing third. Rosenbladt was also a four-time all-conference performer, with the most recent honor this past conference championship where she finished fifth.
Thames, also recently awarded an NCAA postgraduate scholarship, starred in the pole vault three years for Texas Tech. During his time as a Red Raider, he earned two All-American distinctions, with the most recent at the 2006 NCAA Championships with a ninth-place finish. Thames was also a five-time All-Big 12 member, and a previous Academic All-American nominee and three time Academic All-Big 12 student-athlete.
Current Red Raider sprinter and hurdler Harris is a three-time All-American, including his most recent All-America performance at the 2006 NCAA Championships in the 400M hurdles. The honor marked Harris' first outdoor All-America honor. He had three all-region performances with two occurring at the 2006 Midwest Regional where Harris placed second in the 110M hurdles and took the title in the 400M hurdles. Harris also is an eight-time all-conference honoree.
Twenty-three men and 76 women were honored by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches for the All-Academic Team. In order to meet the requirements for nomination, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or better, as well as have met NCAA Division I regional or national qualifying standards in their respective event.
