
Tech Hurdle Crew Set for USA Championships

Lubbock, Texas - Shawon Harris, Marlon Odom and Bryan Scott, Tech's heralded hurdle crew, will begin competition at the 2006 AT&T USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Thurs., June 22, in Indianapolis, Ind.
The Championships is the final stop of USA Track and Field's 2006 Visa Championships Series, and take place June 21-25 at the IU Michael A. Carroll Track & Soccer Stadium on the campus of IUPUI in downtown Indianapolis. It is the selection meet for the IAAF World Cup of Athletics, which will take place later that summer. The 2006 USA Outdoor Junior Championships take place concurrently with the Outdoor Championships, as the selection meet for the 2006 World Junior Championships in Beijing, China.
The 2006 AT&T USA Outdoor Championships will be televised live on ESPN2 from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, and from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, June 25. Harris (400M hurdles), Odom (110M hurdles) and Scott (400M hurdles) earned All-American honors at the 2006 NCAA Championships, two weeks ago, in Sacramento, Calif. Harris, earned his All-American status in the 400M hurdles but elected to compete in the 110M hurdles in Indianapolis.
In the 110M race, Odom has the 14th fastest time (13.45) heading into the event and Harris is behind him in the 20th spot with his clocking of 13.60. Scott has the 15th best time of 49.88 in the 400M hurdles.
Red Raider post-collegians who will be competing in the event include 2004 Olympian Jonathan Johnson, Tyree Gailes and Licretia Sibley.
Johnson's time of 1:44.86 in the 800M, run at the 2005 Big 12 Championships, puts in at the top of the list of 800M contenders. Gailes, along with Johnson, has been running representing Reebok, and will be competing in the 100M and 200M. In the 100M, Gailes has a seed time of 10.33 and, in the 200M, has a clocking of 20.57. Sibley has a seed time of 52.20 in the women's 400M and is seated at 15th entering the event.
