Lubbock, Texas - Approaching her fourth year at the helm of the Lady Raider tennis program, head coach Cari Groce has reorganized her coaching staff in anticipation for the 2006-2007 season.
Former Tech tennis player Irina Tereschenko has been named assistant coach for the 2006-2007 season. Tereschenko was a four-year letter winner at Tech and served as a student assistant coach for the past two seasons.
"It was an easy transition for the program to name Irina my assistant coach," said Groce. "She has demonstrated a commitment to our goals and system over the past years. Her main job is recruiting and she has many worldwide connections, so that was attractive to me as that is a huge part of college tennis."
Mel McRee has been named volunteer assistant coach. McRee is also the tennis pro at the Lubbock Country Club.
"Mel has been a great supporter of Tech tennis since day one, so having him on board provides us with strengths, including great knowledge of singles strategies," said Groce. "We need to get stronger in that area. With these two great additions, I am excited to have filled these two positions with two areas that we need to continue to improve on."
