- Today's game marked the 34th all-time meeting between Texas Tech and Nebraska. The Huskers lead the all-time series 21-13 and won all four meeting against the Red Raiders this season.
- Senior first baseman Patrick Smart tied a career-high this evening with three hits and picked up his first home run of the season. Smart hit a two-run dinger in the bottom of the third and was his first home run since Kansas State on April 17, 2005.
- Freshman left fielder Roger Kieschnick has now hit safely in 47 of 57 games this season and earned his ninth home run of the year.
- Texas Tech will start junior LHP Colt Hynes on Saturday against Baylor. The Red Raiders will face Baylor LHP Cory VanAllen. The game will be televised nationally on FSN and will be the seventh televised game of the season for the Red Raiders.
