- Today's game marked the 123rd meeting between Texas Tech and Texas and the first postseason game between the two teams since 2000. The Longhorns improve to 91-32 in the all-time series with today's 4-0 win.
- Today's game marked Texas Tech's ninth appearance in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship. The only year the Red Raiders were not part of this postseason tournament was in 2003.
- Redshirt freshman Miles Morgan made his 17th start of the season today and is now tied for fourth place on the single-season list at Texas Tech (joins Matt Miller, Lucio Chaidez, Rodney Steph, Shane Wright and Dallas Braden).
- The Red Raiders are now on a four-game losing streak and that is the longest by Texas Tech since the 2004 season (5/8-5/14). In that four-game losing skid, Texas Tech has not reached the double-digit hit mark and that is the longest by the Red Raiders this season.
- Texas Tech was shutout for the first time in 88 games. Tech's last shutout was a 25-0 no-hitter at Missouri on April 1, 2005.
