- Today's game marked the 40th all-time meeting between Texas Tech and Oklahoma State. The Cowboys lead the series 21-19.
- The series sweep by OSU is the third against Texas Tech this season and the most against the Red Raiders since 1992 when Tech was swept by Texas (twice), Texas A&M and TCU. The Red Raiders have now been swept in the regular-season finale in each of the last two seasons and both sweeps came in the state of Oklahoma. Oklahoma swept Texas Tech to end the season in 2005.
- Freshman left fielder Roger Kieschnick has now hit safely in 46 of 55 games this season.
- Sophomore Matt Smith was held without a hit over the weekend and marks the first time this season that he has gone without at least one hit in a three-game series.
