LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech softball team returns to Lubbock this week for an eight-game home stand at Rocky Johnson Field which begins on Tuesday with a doubleheader against Big 12 rival Oklahoma State. Game one is slated to begin at 3 p.m. with new Lady Raider basketball head coach Kristy Curry throwing out the ceremonial first pitch.
The Red Raiders (18-26; 4-6 Big 12) are looking to bounce back after dropping a pair of conference games to the Kansas Jayhawks in Lawrence, Kan. over the weekend. Prior to the Kansas swing, Tech won three of four games against Texas-Arlington and North Texas to begin last week's six-game road trip.
During the trip, sophomores Devin Zaragoza and Jennifer Corkin got their bats going at the plate to pace the Red Raiders offensively. Zaragoza led the team with a .583 batting average (7-for12) and was a perfect 2-for-2 on the base paths, while Corkin posted a .462 average (6-for-13) with her second home run of the season and five RBI.
In the circle, sophomore Sarah Losleben picked up her first win of the season in the second game of the doubleheader against Texas-Arlington on April 12. For the week, the Snoqualmlie, Wash., native allowed no runs and struck out eight batters in seven innings of work.
The Cowgirls come to the South Plains with a 17-22 overall mark this season and are currently in ninth place in the Big 12 standings with a 3-8 conference record. Oklahoma State leads the all-time series with Texas Tech 18-6.
