Red Raiders Host Aggies on Saturday

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Red Raiders take on the Texas A&M Aggies in the first of a two-match homestand on Saturday, November 18th, at 7 p.m. Texas Tech and the United Spirit Arena will host the 11-15 Aggies who have a 4-14 conference record. The Red Raiders will enter the match with an identical overall record of 11-15 and the same amount of conference wins with four.
One team will be ending a losing streak as Tech enters having lost four straight while A&M has lost three. Two of the losses for each team have come against ranked Big 12 opponents, with both Tech and A&M being swept by No. 1 Nebraska.
The Red Raiders were last defeated by Iowa State in Ames, Iowa, by a 3-1 score. Tech captured the first game but lost in the next three to fall with scores of 30-25, 20-30, 26-30, 25-30.
Both Amy Charlebois and Philister Sang tallied 13 kills on the night, with Sang adding 13 digs to complete her 11th double-double of the season. Charlebois added 12 blocks, knocking down one solo and 11 assisted.
The loss to the Cyclones split the series between the two conference foes for 2006. Tech won the Lubbock match by a score of 3-2.
The Aggies are coming off of a sweep against No. 1 Nebraska in which A&M lost by scores of 16-30, 28-30, 25-30. The win elevated the Huskers to 24-1 overall, 16-1 Big 12. Each team registered high hitting percentages, with Nebraska out-hitting A&M .436 to .307. The Aggies knocked down 45 kills with only 14 errors on 101 attempts.
Two Aggies recorded double-digit kills with Sarah Ammerman leading with 13 and Mary Batis adding 10. Kelly Stanton put down seven on 11 attempts to hit .455 on the night. Courtnee Rhodes led in assists with 41 or the team's 44. Nebraska prevented A&M from tallying a large number of digs as the team recorded 29. Jen Moore led in digs with six, while two other Aggies pitched in with five.
The match against in-state rival Texas A&M is the second to last home match, as the Red Raiders will host Kansas State on Wednesday, November 22 on Senior Night. The Tech vs. K-State match will take place in the United Spirit Arena with a 7 p.m. first serve. The final match of the season will be played at Missouri on Saturday, November 25th.
