LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech volleyball team has added two new members for the 2007 season, as announced by the volleyball program on Wednesday. Brandi Hood will join as a transfer out of Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College, while Caroline Courtney will be a freshman in the fall.
Hood will be a junior on the Red Raider team in fall 2007 after two years at HCC. During her time with the Lady Dragons, she has collected numerous honors, including 2005 Jayhawk West Freshman of the Year; 2005 All-Jayhawk West First Team; and 2005 Region VI First Team. In 2006, Hood became the all-time career blocks leader at HCC. She has accumulated a .277 hitting percentage of 78 games in two years, with a 1.21 blocks per game average. While only notching two double-doubles her freshman year, Hood has earned 10 during her sophomore campaign.
Hood is originally from Hutchinson, Kan., and has a sister on the Oklahoma State Cowgirls basketball team.
Courtney will join the Red Raiders as a freshman next fall and is currently listed as an outside hitter. She is attending Bartlesville High in Bartlesville, Okla. She has been named to the All-Conference first team on three occasions. Courtney has also recorded time in playing with the Tulsa Volleyball Club.
