
Tech to Take on Cyclones on Wednesday

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech will hit the road to Ames, Iowa, for a match against the Iowa State Cyclones on Wednesday, Nov. 15th. The match will get underway at 5 p.m. and will be broadcast on Iowa State's official athletic website, www.cyclones.com.
The Red Raiders enter with an 11-14 overall record and are 4-12 in the Big 12. The Cyclones have an overall record of 18-8 and are 10-6 in conference play.
Texas Tech won the first match between the two schools during the 2006 campaign. The victory was the Red Raiders' second to last victory, their win prior to defeating Kansas 3-2. In the Oct. 14th match, Tech was victorious over the Cyclones 3-2 in frames of 24-30, 32-30, 27-30, 30-22, 17-15.
Since that match, Tech has gone 1-6 while Iowa State 6-1. The Cyclones' single loss has come against No. 1 Nebraska in a 3-1 defeat. Prior to playing each other for the first time, Iowa State was 4-4, Tech 2-6.
Tech's last match was against the Baylor Bears. The Red Raiders fought neck-and-neck with the Bears as the match was sent to five after Tech tied it up 2-all. Baylor jumped to an early lead in the fifth and held on to win by scores of 21-30, 30-22, 26-30, 30-20, 12-15.
Iowa State's last match also went to five games as the Cyclones took on the Texas A&M Aggies. In similar fashion to Tech's previous match, ISU took the fourth game to tie the match 2-2 and sent the match into a fifth game. The Cyclones hit a high .706 percentage in the final frame with 13 kills and one error on 17 attempts to take the victory 3-2. Iowa State won by scores of 26-30, 30-27, 29-31, 30-18, 15-13.
Overall, Iowa State hit .258 with 65 kills and 19 errors on 178 total attempts. ISU held the Aggies to .205 hitting with 85 kills and 39 errors on 224 total attempts. The Cyclones knocked down 11 aces during the match, along with 14 blocks. They gave up only five aces and six blocks by Texas A&M.
After the road match in Ames, Iowa, the Red Raiders return home for two matches. On Saturday, Texas Tech will face the Texas A&M Aggies at 7 p.m. in the United Spirit Arena. The following Wednesday the Red and Black welcome the Kansas State Wildcats for another 7 p.m. match. The Nov. 22nd K-State contest marks Senior Night for four outgoing Red Raiders.
