Tech Closes Out Fall Season

WINDERMERE, Fla. - The Texas Tech Red Raiders finished the fall golf schedule with a 17th-place finish at the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational in Windermere, Fla. The Red Raiders closed out the tournament filled with the nation's top teams with scores of 300-304-313--917. All but one squad, Texas A&M, shot its highest score in the final round on Tuesday.
Freshman Will Griffin led all Tech members as he carded rounds of 77-74-76--227 to finish in a tie for 35th. Santiago Rivas tied for 49th after turning in scores of 75-77-77--229. Brandon Lakatta shot rounds of 77-75-78--230 to tie for 53rd. Garrett Merrell carded rounds of 71-82-82--235 to tie for 72nd. Jeremy Martin tied for 81st after rounds of 77-78-84--239.
After finishing the first round in a tie for fourth, the Texas Longhorns took a commanding lead over the tournament by firing rounds of 294-285-297--876 (+12). Texas took the title after entering the tournament as the second-lowest rated team in the field. The Longhorns were shouldered by the effort of four individual top-20 finishes. Georgia's Brian Harman turned in rounds of 70-71-75--216 to take the individual title.
