Merrell Tied for Seventh After One Round

WINDERMERE, Fla. - Texas Tech sophomore Garrett Merrell is currently in a five-way tie for seventh at the Isleworth-UCF Collegiate Invitational. Merrell carded a 1-under 71 during the first round of play on Sunday from the Isleworth Country Club in Windermere, Fla. Merrell sits two shots back of the leader and one stroke from a five-way tie for second.
The Red Raider squad is currently in a two-way tie for 15th after 18 holes of play, as the team shot a 12-over 300 on the day. No. 8-ranked Georgia leads the field after carding a 3-over 291.
Santiago Rivas turned in a 3-over 75 first-round score to sit in a tie for 39th. The remaining three Red Raiders, Jeremy Martin, Brandon Lakatta, and Will Griffin, each carded a 5-over 77 on the day to all sit in a tie for 55th.
