NORMAN, Okla. - Senior goalkeeper Megan Knauss collected a season-high nine saves, but the Texas Tech soccer team dropped the first stop of its Oklahoma road swing on Friday as it fell to the No. 25 Oklahoma Sooners by a score of 2-0 on a cool rainy night at John Crain Field in Norman, Okla.
Knauss was tested early in the match, making the first of four first half saves on a tough shot in the match's third minute.
The Sooners, however, broke through to take a 1-0 lead at the 29:17 mark of the first half as senior midfielder Lauren Maclver took a give-and-go pass from forward Tenesha Duncan to break in alone on Knauss. For MacIver, the score tied her for the team lead with five goals on the season.
At the half, the Sooners held a 12-4 advantage in shots.
As she began the first half, Knauss started the second half with a big save in goal for Tech, making a diving save in the frame's opening minute off a shot from OU's Michelle Enos.
Oklahoma was able to generate eight corner kicks in the second half, but the Red Raiders limited their offensive chances off the kicks until the 63rd minute when Shana All send in a kick that defender Christy Kenkel was able to head into the goal for her fifth goal of the season.
With 19:12 remaining in the second half, Texas Tech brought in senior Beth Lippert to replace Knauss.
The loss drops Texas Tech's overall record this season to 1-9 and 0-2 in Big 12 play, while Oklahoma improves to 10-1 and 2-0 in conference action.
The Red Raiders are back in action on Sunday when they continue their Oklahoma road trip by traveling to Stillwater, Okla., to take on the Oklahoma State Cowgirls. Game time is slated for 1 p.m.
