Women's Tennis Concludes at North Texas

Lubbock, Texas- The Texas Tech women's tennis team completed competition at the Mean Green Invitational at the University of North Texas today.
In flight A of semifinals singles play, Tara Browning defeated Ina Wieding of North Texas, 6-7 (5), 6-3, 17-15. In the finals of the flight, Klara Jagosova of UT-Arlington topped Browning, 7-6, 6-4. In the consolation semifinals, Ashley Ellis of Texas State defeated Erin Hunter, 6-4, 6-4. Also in the consolation round, Samantha van der Drift battled Christina Amo of Texas State to a win by a score of 6-3, 6-3. In the consolation championship, Ellis of Texas State topped van der Drift, 7-6, 6-2.
In flight B of semifinals singles play, Janet Durham topped Brooke Rambally of SMU, 6-2, 6-3. In the championships, Anete Rozkalne of UT-Arlington defeated Durham, 6-3, 1-6, 10-7. In the consolation semifinals, Lakann Wagley topped Leja Sirola of Texas State, 6-3, 6-3. In the championships, Wagley topped Amy Blacketer of Tyler J.C., 6-3, 6-0.
In additional singles action, Lindsay McBride of TCU topped Deanna Carrillo, 6-1, 6-0. Anne-Sophie Fankam defeated Rachel Anders of Tyler J.C., 6-3, 6-0. Katja Kovacic topped Natalie McLeod of Texas State, 6-1, 6-0. Lane Holder beat Jolinda Bouwer of Tyler J.C., 3-6, 6-0, 10-7.
In flight A of doubles play, Browning and Wagley topped Sammie Moreton and Megan Schmulbach of North Texas, 8-3. Cigdem Duru and van der Drift edged Natalia Bubien and Svetlana Kouzmenko of SMU, 8-6. In the championship, Browning and Wagley topped teammates Duru and van der Drift, 4-0, ret. In the consolation round, Durham and Hunter beat Ashley Ellis and Sumarie Muller of Texas State, 8-1. In the championship, Durham and Hunter edged Klara Jagosova and Monika Peciulionyte of UT-Arlington, 9-7.
In additional doubles action, Fankam and Kovacic topped Lindsay McBride and Gabby Lopez of TCU, 8-5. Holder and Carrillo edged Aziza Aba Butain and Lynley Wasson of North Texas, 8-6.
