LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech men's golf coach Greg Sands announced on Thursday that Marty McCauley will join the Red Raider golf program for the upcoming season as the team's assistant coach.
"Marty is very energetic and loyal person," said Sands. "He has had a lot of success at Oklahoma City and hopefully that energy and experience will rub off on our program."
McCauley arrives at Texas Tech after serving as the assistant coach for the Oklahoma City University's men's golf team for the last two seasons. Highlighting his time with the Stars was the 2002 NAIA National Championship as well as a pair of Sooner Athletic Conference titles. During the last two seasons, the Oklahoma City men's golf program produced eight All-Americans as well as two Academic All-Americans.
"For me this is the opportunity of a lifetime," said McCauley. "I'm excited at the chance to work with Coach Sands and be able to complete in the Big 12 Conference."
Prior to his coaching stint at Oklahoma City University, the Cushing, Okla., native played collegiate golf at Wichita State University from 1999-2002. McCauley helped the Shockers capture a pair of Missouri Valley Conference Championship prior to his graduation in December of 2002.
