
Track and Field Signs Four More

Lubbock, Texas - Track and field head coach Wes Kittley announced the signing of four more student-athletes to the 2005 incoming class. This brings the track signee total to 21.
Daryl Burgess will come to Tech as a junior from South Plains College. Burgess is the 2005 Junior College National Champion in the 110M hurdles. The Miami, Fla. native also ran a leg of the 4x400M. His personal bests include a 13.46 in the 110M hurdles and a 47.3 split as a member of the mile relay.
Ricky Norris is a native of Irving, Texas and a standout at Irving high school. He finished fifth at the 5A State Championship in the 100M with a clocking of 10.75. His personal best in the event, 10.55, was run at the Mesquite Relays. Norris was also a member of the 4x200M relay where his best split was a 19.8. When he arrives on campus, Norris will be a 100M and 200M runner and he also has the potential to run as a member of the 4x100M relay. Morris is also a tremendous student-athlete as he scored 1100 on his SAT's.
Patience Knight is the third thrower that Kittley has signed for next season. Knight is a native of San Antonio where she attended San Antonio Clark high school. Knight is the 2005 State Champion in the shot put and her personal best in the event is 46'-7".
Victoria Smith is also another outstanding student-athlete coming in next season. She has been named Academic All-District for the past three years at Temple high school. The Temple native has clocked personal bests of 13.75 and 45.5 in the 100M hurdles and 300M hurdles, respectively. Smith also lettered in basketball and cross country.
