LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech senior shortstop Cameron Blair picked up his third All-America honor of the season today as he was named a third-team selection by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
Blair was the catalyst for the Red Raider offense in 2005 and was one of the most prolific hitters in the nation. His 17 home runs on the year were the best at his position and he finished the regular-season with a .363 average along with 12 doubles and 59 RBI. He is the first Red Raiders since Josh Bard (1998-1999) to earn All-America honors in back-to-back seasons.
He was drafted in the sixth round of the MLB Draft by Pittsburgh and recently signed a professional contract with the Pirates. He is currently at short season Williamsport in the New York-Penn League.
