Post-Game Notes
May 27, 2005 | Baseball
- Senior right-hander Tanner McElroy turned in his second straight complete game effort on Friday night against Nebraska. Both complete games turned into losing efforts as Tech was only able to plate single runs in each contest (Oklahoma 5/21; Nebraska 5/27). The complete game effort was just the fourth turned in by a Tech hurler this season.
- Texas Tech fell to 12-14 all-time in the Big 12 Tournament with tonight's loss and is 1-2 against the Huskers in tourney play.
- The Tech offense finished the season with a .301 team batting average and that is the lowest average since the 2000 season when Tech finished with a .300 clip.
- Senior shortstop Cameron Blair snapped a two-game hitless streak with a single in the sixth inning.
- Texas Tech is not expected to receive an at-large invitation to the NCAA Regionals and Tech will miss out on tournament play for just the second time in 11 years.
- The Tech pitching staff finished the season with 242 walks and that is the most by a Red Raider staff since 1988 when that team issued 313 free passes. On the other hand, the Tech staff finished with 397 strikeouts and that is the most by the Red Raiders since 2002 when Tech struckout 420.
