LUBBOCK, Texas - After posting an impressive start to the 2005-06 season, in which he finished in the top ten of all four of the Red Raiders' fall tournaments, junior golfer Oscar Floren has been honored by Golf World as a member of the magazine's mid-season All-American Team.
This season, the Ljungskile, Sweden, native leads Tech with an average score of 70.83 per round after an eventful summer which saw him complete at the 2005 British Open. Floren kicked off the season with three-round total of 216 to finish in a tie for eighth place at the Cleveland State Invitational. Floren followed his season opening tournament with three-straight Top-10 finishes, including a tie for 10th at the William H. Tucker and a fourth place tie at the Taylor Made Barona Cup. Floren also helped to lead the Red Raiders to a fifth-place team finish in a field that included seven teams ranked in the national Top 25 at the Carpet Capital Collegiate on Nov. 4-6.
The four Top-10 finishes for Floren this season brings his career total to 11 during his time in Lubbock. The junior and the rest of the Red Raider golf team will return to action on Feb. 5-7 when it travels to Ponte Verda Beach, Fla., to take part in the Mercedes Benz Collegiate.
