
Volleyball Faces Texas A&M on the Road

Lubbock, Texas - Texas Tech volleyball will face Texas A&M on Mon., Nov. 21, at 6:30 p.m., in College Station, Texas. The Red Raiders are sitting at 11-18 and 4-14 on the season and are looking to snap a seven-match losing streak.
Last time out, the Red Raiders fell in three matches to Iowa State on Senior Night at the United Spirit Arena, Nov. 19. The Cyclones took the match by games scores of 30-27, 30-23, 30-28. The squad now falls to 11-18 and 4-14 on the season. Seniors Desiree Batista and Brianna Florus were honored in pre-match events.
Philister Sang tallied 15 kills, her 14th 15-kill match of the season, and hit .186 with seven errors. Batista recorded 17 digs in her last home match at the USA and her career total now stands at 775. Kiley Lyons stepped up in the middle tonight and tallied one solo block and three block assists. Consistent contributor Florus aided on four block-assists.
In the last match up between the two teams, after winning the first two games and dropping the second two, the Texas Tech volleyball team topped Texas A&M, 3-2, at the United Spirit Arena, on Oct. 22. The Red Raiders secured the match by games scores of 30-28, 30-25, 28-30, 27-30, 17-15. The win marks the first for the Red and Black over the Aggies since Nov. 23, 2002.
The Red Raiders boasted four players in double-digit kills and two in double-digit blocks. Philister Sang missed the 30-kill mark by one with her 29 put-downs on the night. Brianna Florus chipped in with 10 kills and controlled the middle with two solo blocks and four block assists. Kiley Lyons tallied her fourth double-double of the season with 11 kills and 12 digs. Emily Ziegler was the sole setter tonight as she added in 64 assists and tallied eight kills, both season match-highs.
The Aggies are currently sitting at 14-12 and 7-10 in conference play, good for a current spot of seventh in the Big 12. They are currently riding a three-match win streak that includes wins over Kansas, Kansas State and No. 24 Colorado. The squad is 8-5 on their home court and 5-5 while on the road. Senior Laura Jones is leading the Big 12 in kills per game with 5.94. Texas A&M leads the series with Tech, 43-28. The Red and Black are 7-21 in College Station.
